Believe in yourself and visualize your goals to see how small your problems are

Hi there ! Happy good time everyone.
Today I'm going to share some parts of 'The Power of Positive Thinking' Book by Norman Vincent Peale, which I will give you summary of its Chapter 1 and Chapter 2.

Chapter 1 : Believe In Yourself

Is self-doubt one of the main problems in your life? Do you find something special in yourself? Is this feeling of inadequacy standing in your way of enjoying more success socially, financially or in general? well, Peale gives us some pointers as to how we can overcome this in Chapter One of his book, "The Power of Positive Thinking".

The first thing that made me interested in this chapter is about the main correlation between positive thinking and negative thinking which both of them are have some big different effects on ourselves. I discovered in this chapter that negative thinking about ourselves can be corrected by driving positive ideas and suggestions of confidence into our minds. Basically, a mind full of negative ideas can be taught to think more positively through reading positive material and the action of consciously filling it with positive thoughts.

In this part of his book, Peale talks about the benefits of a confident attitude for all of us. He talks about how when you have a positive, confident attitude it seems to draw "Good" in your direction. Instead of us constantly having to seek what we want, what we want is drawn to us!

In short, what he is suggesting in this chapter is "Picture yourself as succeeding no matter how bad things happened through yourself". When negative thoughts come to your mind cancel them out with positive ones and whatever you do see obstacles for what they are without building them up in your imagination.

And finally, one thing that I always believe in my life ever is actually written on his book as well, in the last part of this chapter he said that no one is unique as good as you don't try measuring up to others as they are only as half as good as you think they are and your are twice as good as you think.

Chapter 2 : A Peaceful Mind Generates Power

Chapter two is called 'A Peaceful Mind Generates Power'. It is about how having positive thoughts and a positive mental attitude to create a happy and healthy life. Dr. Norman Vincent Peale gives methods throughout this chapter to help to achieve a habitual positive state of mind.
The first thing to do to achieve a habitual positive mental attitude is to release negative thoughts. He shares two methods to release negative thinking:

        - Pour your heart out and share your worrisome thoughts with someone you trust.
        - Use your imagination to visualize physically getting rid of your thoughts.

The next part of achieving a positive mental state of mind is to fill up your mind with positive thoughts; it's not enough to just release negative thoughts for they will come  back if they aren't replaced with positive ones. Here are several techniques he suggest to help fill up your mind with positive thoughts:

- At intervals during the day practice thinking a carefully selected series of peaceful thoughts. Let mental pictures of the most peaceful scenes you have ever witnessed pass across your mind..."
- "Practice the technique of suggestive articulation, that is, repeat audibly some peaceful words. Words have profound suggestive power and there us healing in the very saying of them."
- Read positive books.
- Practice speaking positively through conversation to uplift yourself and others.
- Practice daily silence for 15 minutes each day.
- "Fill your mind with all peaceful experiences possible, then make planned and deliberate excursions to them in memory."

The  last thing that Dr. Norman Vincent Peale discusses in this chapter is that many people have a self punishment mechanism and carry lots of guilt around with them which can be healed through self forgiveness. I go into greater depth on this topic in the video. Releasing negative emotions and negative beliefs helps to change our behavioral patterns so that we change what we create and experience in our lives. Self forgiveness is an enormously powerful way to release guilt, and self forgiveness in the most empowering kind of forgiveness we can practice.

Don’t choose negative thoughts, when you can choose positive ones. Ever.
