MY FIRST EVER BLOG WITH "THE STORY BEHIND MY NAME"

WELCOME TO MY FIRST EVER BLOG

I'm so excited and feel a little bit awkward :D

Being of millennial age, I never thought I'd be doing blog, because I'm pretty sure that some of you might be know that blog is no longer happening or hype than it was. Instead there are so many kinds of social media being popular right now. But no matter what is happening, since a few months ago I've got a lot of suggestion from some people to do kind of stuff like this (blogging). The first time it happened since I've started posted some of movie reviews on my social media, Instagram. Many of my friends have asked me "Why don't you start a Blog or YouTube channel?, maybe you will get a lot of viewers and reach a thousand subscriber there". First thing that came to my mind that, I thought that they were going too far. I meant that wasn't a great idea, because I thought to be a blogger is not as easy as some people thinks. To be a blogger I should need a great capability, a great skills and effective time by doing it. Of course, it's hard for me to do that where I have so many assignment from my college.

But you know what? I got it wrong !!!

Since I started my 3rd semester in the university. I have a new lecturer on my 'Reading' subject, her name is Mrs. Yuna. She asked every student including myself to make a blog. She told us that blog is one of a good place to improve our writing and reading skill. Because blogging has quickly become one of the most popular ways of communicating, spreading information and news. It's a great way to express ourself to put our feelings and opinion, so we can be a better person and a better writer for the next time. And for the additional benefit, we can also make a lot of money by doing it. Hmm.. that's what I most focus on. :D

Therefore, at the some point I realized that, this is such a good time for me to start a blog, like, it's a big opportunity for me to start a new chapter of my life. So, I just want to say thank you to my lecturer for the guidance, and to some of my friends for giving me such insightful suggestion.

On my blog, surely, I want to share not only for my assignment but also for the other passion in my life that absolutely set my soul on fire. My blog will serve as a place to share my own insight on other issues, especially about the movie issue, because I'm a movie fan. cheers !!

So for the first post on my blog, I'm going to tell you about my name, the meaning of my name, or the story behind my name. Also, I'm going to answer the questions that I got from my lecturer which also talking about the name.

IT'S BEEN 20 YEARS OLD I'M RUNNING MY LIFE AS JAENAL ABIDIN, BUT I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT IS THE MEANING OF THAT NAME.

But finally !!!

For some people and for those of you who are reading my blog now. I'm sure that you guys are already know about your name, whether its meaning or the story behind its name. And I'm sure if you go and ask around, there are some kind of story behind every name. And they be named by their parents for a good reason. Exactly like you are, I'm sure that you got your name from your parents for a big wish and a big pray, so you can be a person who they wish to be. And some of you might be got the explanation from your own parents.

But not for me, like I just told you before, I have never know the meaning of my name for almost 20 years old since I was born. I have no idea what it means.

For those of you might be think that's so tragic, and yeah.. I feel the same about that :D. I mean, when people were talking about their names and they proud of that because their name was so beautiful and meaningful, but I kept silent and never noticed about it though.

In all my life, I think that I've never care about my name, I've never ask my parents about it, and never found it out at all. seems like I don't even care about my life. But no, that's not true. I love my life so much !

And after a long time, finally, I found it out because for the first time ever my lecturer asked me to explain about the meaning of my name in the front of the class. So, I decided to go found it out on Internet.

So here it is !

Let's start with my first name "Jaenal" . In Arabic Jaenal means "good" and "jewelry". good is similar with "nice" and Jewelry is something that very expensive, worth and valuable. And based on what I have read on Internet, a person named Jaenal is usually set to accomplish big thing in life. He is a man with a very smooth personality and also have a big heart. And "Abidin" means "someone who very obedient to God" . When I've just read it from Internet, the first think that came to my mind was.. "really ! is that so?? because I thought that was completely different than who I am. Which means, I'm not really a good person, also I'm not a person who very obedient to God. Because I feel that I have made a lot of mistakes and a lot of mess in my life.

Not sure why my parents chose me that name, but yeah.. I'm just aiming to be obedient, truly. And I feel like a lot of my life has been spent trying to find a good balance, and I wish I can be a better person soon.

And I believe that name is not always reflect someone self, but name could be a huge pray and a big wish for all the people to be what they want to be.

And now it's time to answer the questions below.

1. For the first question, If I have a child, what would I name him or her? why?

To be a person, for sure, I want to be a normal people living with a peaceful life, I want to enjoy my life and be happy with the peoples that I love most. That's why, for the next future, I wish I can get marriage and have a lovely family.

So, if I had a chance to have a children. For a son, I would name my son Abraham. Why? actually, I don't even know what is the meaning of Abraham. I choose that name because I like to pronounce it, so that I can call him Abra or Braham, those are sounds cool for me. I know it's little unreasonable, but the second reason is because I admire Abraham Lincoln so much. I'm sure that some of you have known who Abraham Lincoln was, but for those of you who don't, Abraham Lincoln was an American statesman and the 16th President of the United States. He guided the United States of America through the American Civil War, it was a bloodiest war when moral, constitutional, and political crisis happened in America. And he never stopped fighting for what he believed was right in the civil war, even when newspaper printed false thing about him. And he's one of the greatest leader who made America great. That's why I would like to give Abraham for my son's name, so that my son will be a great leader, high fighter, and responsible through a big problem.

2. For the second question, what are my three favorite English names for males and females?

My first favorite English name for male is Jack. Why? because Jack has always been a name I like, I think that Jack is the coolest English name ever. Also it reminds me to the character from Titanic movie, Jack Dawson. Jack played by Leonardo DiCaprio, which is he's also my favorite actor all the time, who always gives a lot of inspiration for everything that he have done to the society. And Leonardo also become my second favorite English name that I choose.

The third my favorite English name is John. Why that name? because for me, John is very familiar and a common name for male English name. The people who named John is always looks handsome, smart and cool. It only based on my opinion. So, for those of you who named John, you are a western guy then. :D

And I have my three favorite female English name. The first one is Nicole Kidman, no doubt about that. Nicole Kidman is my favorite model and actress, she is very beautiful and so talented. She is the recipient of multiple awards, including an Academy Awards (Oscar), Primetime Emmy Awards, and Golden Globe Awards. She's also has been a Goodwill ambassador for UNICEF. What an amazing woman figure, right?

The second one is Sarah Jessica Parker. What a good combination between Sarah, Jessica, and Parker. I love that !. Sarah Jessica Parker is one of the famous Hollywood celebrity. She is American actress, producer, and designer. And she is known for her role as Carrie Bradshaw on the HBO series, Sex and the City. I love that name not only because based on the famous actress, but also the peoples who named Sarah that I have met was always have a good personality and have a strong establishment.

And my last favorite female English name is Catriona. I have no story behind choosing this name to be one of my favorite. Again, it's because I like to pronounce it, and it's beautiful to hear when someone says Catriona.

3. And for the last question, if I could change my name, what would I change it to? and why?

First of all, I would be happy if I could change my name to Jaenal Abraham, because I thought that it would be very cool, better than I have Abidin on my last name. But, since I got the explanation from my lecturer that Abidin have a lot of good meanings. So there are no reason for me to changed it, and I would never ever like to turn it into any kind of name. The things that I have to do is just be proud of my name. so yeah I did that, I'm comfortable with my name all this time. And I'd like to thanks to my parents who give me such a meaningful name.
